Hello. I am currently renting an apartment in Columbia. While there are some things I like about Howard County (Centennial Lake, Columbia Athletic Club) , other things I don't like (traffic, CPRA fee for home buyers, higher crime areas, section 8 housing in Columbia apartments , and high home prices (especially high outside of Columbia, in the Ellicott City Area). I think I'm about ready to give up on Columbia, let the lease run out, and move.

After much searching, I've been looking in the Perry Hall area, I think I'd like to buy a small brick home in the 300K range. Does anyone know where I could look in this area? Which areas are the safest single family home areas? I've been looking where the old BCPL library was, across Belair Road from the Safeway .

I wonder if there are any other older small brick ranchers in the Perry Hall area that may be for sale soon? The new developments seem to favor large homes, too large for me. Any advice would be appreciated, this will be a big purchase for me.
