1. Get car inspected
2. Get title to the Office of Motor Vehicles, or if I owe money on my car (who doesn't these days), I have to fill out a form and send it to my credit union who I pay for the car, for them to send a copy of the title to them.
3. Once received, I go back to pay a butt-load of tax and registration fees, and then I get my new title.

Is that it in a nutshell?
Seems right, except in #3, you shouldn't have to go "back". It only takes one visit once the bank has transmitted the title to the MVA. Also, you will get your license plates (called "tags" in MD).

But I have to go to the MVA to get the form and start the process, right?

Yes.

When you show up with the current out of state paperwork (title, registration, etc)
and the MD specific tings (like inspection and insurance) they'll notice that the title has a lien on it.
(well, I assume that TX titles do).

At *that* point they'll have a process to notify the lender of the change...
to copy them with other paperwork all of which requires YOU to have those papers as well.
Once complete the rest is done in the mail.

Thanks! I'll have to find where my title is. If I'm recalling, I don't get a copy of my title here in Texas, only the registration. The title is sent to us when it's paid off. But I could be way off in left field! I'll call my Credit Union this afternoon.

Appreciate the help!
