I'm actually the only non true native Marylander in my immediate family, lol. My Mother didn't like the Hospital I was supposed to be born at so they just drove into D.C. and had me. I grew up in Anne Arundel County (Gambrills/Odenton area) and while the rest of the clan still live there, I don't. So I guess I really don't know why I posted. lol

I grew up in PG County and lived in AA County for 17 years and moved out 3 years ago because it got too expensive. My family (who followed me there) still live there but I am only an 1 1/2 hours away right over the MD line in West Virginia. When we sold our house there, we couldn't afford it, moved here and got everything we wanted plus with more land for a lot less.

Your right about Anne Arundel County getting too expensive. Almost all of my family own their homes and will make a killing when/if they ever decide to sell. I've tried talking them into selling and moving to the south but they won't leave their beloved Maryland. $500,000+ will buy you one hell of a house in Dixie.

It is ridiculous how much we sold our house for on .11 acrea.

Maybe after the winter we have had this year your family might rethink moving, lol. We are expecting 2ft today.

lol, Maryland could start sinking into the Atlantic and they would never leave. They should get an award for being such loyal Marylanders.

I have an Aunt that will only take public transportation to work, her commute to D.C. every day is almost 4 hours all together. She gets up a 4am to go to work, Forget that nonsense.

Family is from Connecticut and New York, moved to Maryland where I grew up, and spent nearly my entire life. First in Mitchellville in Prince George's for about 12 years, then to Germantown in Montgomery County.

I'm 99% Marylander, 1% Washingtonian and take great pride in this state, and am biased towards it from time to time . UMD and the Terps rule and all other colleges suck especially Dook, UNC, and WVU. Pretty much Maryland has the best of everything: best flag, best food (blue crab and Old Bay, hell yeah), best teams (Ravens, Redskins, Orioles ), best Metro area, and best rural areas (mountains out West, beaches back East).

No surprise there. I've heard of people commuting from Delaware, and of course scores of people drive and take the train from West Virginia and Pennsylvania. IIRC Marylanders have the longest commute in the nation.
