I so agree these are all the reasons I moved. Also the attitudes of the people moving in just turned me off. But we have the same attitudes moving into NC. Some just don't know how to relocate for a better life without trying to change what natives know, live by and way of live. Its pretty bad when people say they want to move for a better life but want to change that new life to what they have been accustomed to. Move back if you want that same life but stop trying to change what others already now and live.

Born at Cafritz Hospital on Southern Ave in Washington , DC 1967. Grew up in Clinton , MD. until 1987 and graduated from Surrattsville High 1985. Moved to Hollywood , MD. St. Mary's Co. for one year. Then back to PG county in Greenbelt/College Park. Moved to Florida in 1997 for work reasons. Married in 2002 to a Active Duty Navy gal. Since then we have lived in Norfolk/Va. Beach, Va. Currently live in San Diego , CA. Now we're being sent to Bethesda , MD for my wife to work at Bethesda Naval Hospital. Looks like I'm destined to be a Marylander again.

I was born in Cafritz Memorial Hospital, on the District side of the Maryland/District line. My infancy was spent in an apartment in Oxon Hill; as a toddler I moved to Clinton (off Brandywine Road) where we lived for 12 more years. When I was 14 we moved to Silver Spring (near Randolph Road and New Hampshire Ave); my parents just sold that house last year. I went out of state to college for 4 years, then returned. After getting married, we lived at Brandermill in Germantown for 4 years, then we bought a house in Montgomery Village.

I love Maryland. My family is actually from Philadelphia but my husband's family is from the Baltimore area--his mother used to be a majorette for the Baltimore Colts Marching Band back in the 1950s. They are still mad about the Colts moving.

Heh, small world, I just saw the post in before this. I was zoned for Surrattsville High School but ended up moving out before I hit high school. Elementary/Jr High I spent in private school--Grace Brethren, they bought the old Surrattsville Jr. High after I moved.

Default Born and raised in MD

I've lived in Maryland my entire life. I was in Calvert County until I was 2 and PG county the rest of my life (College Park and Beltsville). We are looking to move to AA county now, but don't see myself leaving MD.

We are NOT MD natives but have lived here now for almost 10 years. We are tired of it to be honest. I make a decent salary and we have to still live away from all conveniences. We have recently (last year) built a home on the Eastern Shore because we love the atmosphere here. The ATMOSPHERE here.
If we would have known that if "you" are not a local here, you are an outcast and no one will even bother to get to know "you", we would have stayed where we were.
We are highly dissapointed in our move, our neighborhood and the schools.
We know several people here on the Shore who talked it up and talked it up, the people are wonderful,etc.... we looked at the schools and thought the area we were moving to was decent... what a mistake.
We have not found that the transplants (as you call us-we are originally from NY state) , no, we have found that it is mainly the local people who have the problem adapting to "us".
We are not one of those people looking for everything to change for us either, we just want people to be friendly, to include our children in on things in the neighborhood and it just doesn't happen.
My wife is continually excluded from things with the other "mom's" here and I watch it happen.
It is a shame, it is a beautiful ,beautiful area.
We are hoping to leave in the next year, hopefully the real estate market will pick up and we can say goodbye , at least to the Eastern Shore.
We lived in Carroll County before and honestly now that we look back, it was a great place to be!

Born, raised and still living in MD.

I was originally from Garrett Co, MD (near Deep Creek Lake). I went to HS at Bishop Walsh (Cumberland, MD). Then college went to Frostburg State Univ (Frostburg, MD) for undergrad. Immediately following college I worked in sales and covered the whole state so I opted to live in Frederick to be right in the middle of the mountains and the beach. I loved the E. Shore and wanted to live there; however, when my company went kaput, I couldn't find a good paying job... My heart still lives there though... :-(

I ended up finding a job in Frederick and got my MBA at Mount Saint Mary's Univ (Emittsburg, MD). I still have the same job but after several years I got bored and started a side business. I have an office in NoVa, but work in MD (Frederick to the E. Shore), DC, and NoVa.

I am still reside Frederick, but after a life in nearly every part of this state and not being satified - yay for ever increasing taxes, insane cost of living, lengthy commute time, limited job opps in my field, and most of all the attitude of people...; I am ready for a change and am hoping to move to Charlotte, NC this fall. :-)

Hi - I wasn't born in Maryland, but lived there for 3+ years & just moved to NY. I can tell you that while I was there I almost never met anyone who was originally from Maryland. However, I ache every day to be back there. I love Maryland so much. I fell like it is full of opportunity, with friendly people, great weather & so much history. I can honestly say the only thing that annoyed me was the humidity! But...I got used to it. Now I miss that heat & humidity!

I Went To Kenmoor & Robert Goddard Middle Schools And Graduated From Duval High School, Yeah That Was A Mouthful, Lol. Honestly Its Time For A Change, I've Been Here My Whole Entire Life And Although I Travel Frequently I Always Come Home, I'm Loking To Move Somewhere South Of Here Within The Next Two Years, I Need A Change Not Just Of Pace But Everything Is Sky High And Quite Frank I Can't Afford To Live Here Much Longer, Lol
