Lots Of Crime In Maryland
The crime in Maryland, especially Baltimore is VERY bad. I can't understand why anyone would want to move here. We are about to leave Maryland due to the crime, high taxes and the snow in winter. BEWARE of Maryland.

I think certain states that have higher population densities tend to have higher crime in general. But, you have to keep in mind that the reason these states have higher populations is because of other things that draw people to the area (jobs, quality of life, educational opportunities, etc.). You will probably have a smaller crime problem in rural Montana, but you also have considerably fewer people who choose to move out there. It's a trade-off. I am sorry that you didn't find your experience here in Maryland a nice one, and hope you find what you're looking for wherever you move to.

Memo crime is every where no one can hide from crime no matter where we live. The only way to avoid crime is to purchase your own island. Where its only you and your family. Please do let us know where you are moving to where there is no crime or snow. Warm weather means more crimes. Crimes tend to increase in the summer seasons at a higher number then winter season. So please do let us know of such place where there is no snow and no crime.

The issue isn't "there is crime everywhere" which is what I constantly read from Maryland posters especially PGC posters. Of course there is crime everywhere, however, the issue is the degree, severity and consistency of the crimes that are happening in a particular area. Marylanders, especially PGC Marylanders seem to have gotten used to and accepted the high degree and consistency of crimes there and now use the term, "there is crime everywhere" to justify why they continue to stay.

There is no getting out of it: Maryland's crime rate is higher than the national average. Statistics prove that point. And.. it should become the number one priority especially in Baltimore and Prince George County. But, there are plenty of safer areas to live in both of those locales. So, on with your life and hope that the folks we pay in government and law can help with these issues. Also, I hope parents are teaching their children the value of life and right from wrong: two lessons that the schools are not really responsible for.

jonjj...I would disagree with the end. Having parents is a foregone conclusion in many "families". If this is going to get turned around its the teachers'/schools' responsibility. In many cases, the LAST person you to come in contact with the students are the parents.

jonjj is correct. It starts with parents not teachers and administrators to teach values concerning life and right and wrong. Many lazy parents have been dumping their parental responsibilities on the schools for years and obviously there are still those that believe it should continue.

expg...I disagree. The "family" that many of us know has been completely wiped out of many of our neighborhoods. IF we want it corrected...the schools need to be both a "home" and the traditional school. Thats why we are seeing many of our "community schools" popping up around Baltimore and other cities.

If that be the case that schools should be more responsible for this issue, then that fact should be recognized by the state as part of our curriculum and incorporated daily in the classroom. The issue now is that teachers are overwhelmed with reading and math and writing. Those are also survival skills.
