This picture from the 10/7 debate illustrates precisely why Anthony Brown is unqualified and outmoded for the job of Maryland Governor. While Brown fiddles with a stack of talking points, Larry Hogan is speaking from his mind and his heart. No endless list of bulleted talking points to help him along. Why? Because he KNOWS what Maryland needs, and it's not another Democratic Governor.

Larry Hogan is the SUPERIOR candidate for Governor of Maryland.

Remember, too, Larry Hogan, Sr., was a pretty popular politician in Prince Georges County. Hogan, Jr., may get a bigger percentage from PG than Republicans ordinarily do.

In any event, it's exciting to see Maryland having some competition.

Prince George's County was overwhelmingly white when Sr. was the County executive.

Hogan, Sr. was county exec from 1978-82. The black migration out of DC began after the 1968 riots. I'll give you that it was a much larger white population than today but many of those people (black and white) have migrated to other parts of Maryland, especially Anne Arundel, Charles, Calvert, which can still vote state-wide. Hogan Sr. was well-respected as I recall.

This sounds like a tacit admission that black people won't vote for a white person in PG because they're white. Merit and ability to lead has nothing to do with it...it's all about race. Is that what you're saying?

No, people in PG vote for Democrats, regardless of race. Go back and check the returns on Michael Steele when he ran for Senate. Being black didn't do him a lick of good in penetrating the Dem party wall there.

lol anyone seeing Hogan's pathetic ads with his daughter talking about how pro choice he is and how he supports unfettered access to contraceptives and birth control for women? Isn't his campaign supposed to be about lowering taxes and cutting government yet I see Hogan's pro birth control ad 10x a day. He's essentially giving a feeble "me too" to an issue Brown has been solid on, very pathetic. I had the privilege to meet Mr. Hogan's campaign manager, twitchy and not overly friendly guy, he quickly excused himself and I saw him in a corner guzzling a bottle of mouthwash.

Hogan is running those ads because Brown in bombarding the market with contrast (read: negative) ads about Hogan being "bad for women."

Hogan's choices are to the let the claims go unanswered, or respond. If they went unanswered, folks like you would say "see, he has nothing to say." When he responds, you say what you typed above.

The message isn't aimed at you: your mind was made up when you saw the D and the R by the names, your brain filled in the necessary rationalizations for this choice by inserting your usual cardboard cutout caricatures about how Republicans and Democrats think and act. There is no campaign strategy aimed at the brain dead voter. Sadly, you are a throw away to one candidate, and an already penned sheep to the other.

Now, why is Brown running contrast in this race? The polls show the race is tightening. I don't think it will tighten enough for Hogan to win, but Brown is still going to spend money going negative on Hogan, to make sure any of those MD women who are thinking about voting for Hogan are reminded of the GOP caricature the Dems have successfully branded in the last 4 years.

lol Hogan must be paying you quite handsomely to post such dross. I live in MD and watch TV and I've never seen any Brown/Democrat ad about Hogan's opinions on abortion/birth control, only one I've seen is pointing out his love of guns. Hogan supported a Human Life Amendment to the US Constitution that would ban all abortions yet now he wants to pretend he cares about women's reproductive rights? It's an idiotic strategy and if I were one of his donors I'd be spitting mad. Why is he trying to hit Brown on his strongest issue instead of focusing on the economy and good government?

I imagine someone bought and paid for such as yourself will pretend Hogan isn't a two faced liar but I honestly don't think anyone is saying "aw how nice, Larry Hogan's daughter is making him look so human and feminist, he must really support womens' rights to contraception, I'm glad he's different than the anti-abortion crusader he used to be!"

Like I said, you aren't the target audience, you are probably not even aware the contrast campaign is going on, even though you are clearly aware of the issue. No need to waste resources on sheep already in the pen, remember?

As for being paid, I wish I was! My work up here is slow this season. We have a few interesting races, but none where the candidates are paying much out for campaign services. I don't do state level work.......although I have seen some of the analytical work the state GOP folks put out, and it isn't very impressive.
