Default Bedroom Communities and Commuting to Fort Detrick (Frederick MD)

I am taking a job at Fort Detrick in Frederick Maryland. I can not afford to live in Frederick. Am considering based on internet info, living in martinsburg, shepherdtown west virginia area to live in a more affordable housing area and live in a more crime free area. Any and all thoughts welcome on the commute and other bedroom communities that would serve me well working in Frederick.

A lot of people live in those areas and commute all the way to DC. Traffic can be heavy and an accident will bring it to a standstill. You would still be in the main flow of traffic. The heavy traffic starts early in Fred. and Wash counties because of all the people going all the way to the district. The freeways in Fred go slow as they are undersized. That's pretty much the case everywhere. If you looked to the south of Fred. so you would be going against the flow, the traffic would be better, but the prices are higher (closer to DC). Not discouraging you, it's just the realities of this area. You could also consider Thurmont.

Default Try this website for homes

www.homesdatabase.com

On the homepage there is a spot where you can enter the MLS # for a property. Try these 2 MLS's: FR6450364 & FR6502064
They should fit the bill based on your earlier post/price range, and are both in Frederick, in the 21702 zip.

Tesaje is right about the commutes around the area - they can be rough. If you absolutely don't want to live in Frederick you could try Myersville, west of town on Rt. 40. Rt.40 into town may not be as bad as I-70 during rush hour, although I've never driven it myself.
