Default job in Silver Spring, boyfriend in Baltimore

Hi there - I've read through all the MD posts with a great deal of interest.

I recently accepted a job in downtown Silver Spring and will be looking for an apartment to rent within the month.

I am moving from Baltimore, where my boyfriend will remain. I looked in to the MARC Train/Metro and see that it would take over 1.5 hours each way, which is unpalatable to me on a daily basis.

Having said that, any ideas on where to look for a safe apartment within reasonable (30 minutes or less) commute to downtown Silver Spring and as easily accessible as possible from Baltimore?

THANKS!

Look in Columbia, MD. Halfway between Baltimore and Silver Spring.

Well if you drive from columbia you'll probably either take 95 or 29, and I'd say it would take you at least an hour to drive. The traffic in and near DC is monstrous. At least if you took the metro could make good use of the commute time (computer, cell phone, reading, etc).

If you want to live in Silver Spring be prepared to pay around 2k a month for an apartment.
