Correcton: It's craigslist.org

I like craigslist the best for renting. By far the biggest selection.

My wife and I used to use ApartmentRatings.net.

Take half the ratings with a grain of salt, but if you're intelligent and a good reader you'll be able to pick out the posts where it's just bad tenants with an axe to grind as well as the occasional plug by management.

Often you'll know the plugs because they'll all be 5 stars and will be written with the same writing style (everyone has a typing style on the internet). Other 1 star posts are just coming from bad tenants who got upset when they were either dealt with or kicked out. Pay attention to dates too. If you see a bunch close to each other in time then that's one indicator of something fishy. Most apartments will have ratings spaced out 3 or 4 months apart. Not everyone uses ratings sites obviously.

All in all I found it to be one of the better rating sites.
