Hi, I am interviewing at the UMMC. Need to get a hotel. I was wondering if this is a safe area where I can pretty much pick any location in the 5 mile radius. Thanks.

22 S. Greene Street, Baltimore, MD 21201 This is the address.

The area around the campus is fine. A few blocks north and it may look a little rough but that whole area is in the process of gentrification. The Lexington Market is a great place to visit right near there. Once on campus, folks will let you know where and where not to go. Lots of hotels to choose from all in the downtown area and it is fine.

I'm a librarian at the U of Md Health Sciences Library - make sure you visit us on your trip - it's great! I would recommend staying at the Hampton Inn just down Greene Street from the campus. It is new and very nice. The Marriott on Lombard & Eutaw is also fine. Both of these will allow you to walk to the inner harbor area restaurants, shops, etc.
