Default what makes the housing so high...read on

I am from Ohio and about had a heart attack looking at real estate prices around the BW Parkway corridor. How in God's name do you people afford it? But I digress.

I understand supply/demand and all that, but what about building a home? Is the cost in the land, or the labor, or the materials? I have found that land is more expensive, but not prohibitively so in places like Severn. If I self-contract can I actually build a home for a decent price? As in for less than a built home would cost?

Land is very high. I live in the Pasadena area and I know 9 years ago we looked at buying a lot to have a house built on and it was expensive then for a crappy lot, now they go for more than houses. That is the reason we are leaving the state, bottom line is we couldn't afford to buy our own house.

Anywhere I can afford a house, the job market sucks.

Anywhere I can get a job, the houses are too expensive to buy.

And I have a college degree. And in Ohio, I make 70 grand but after tonight's election I can guarantee more jobs get sucked out of this state faster than you can say Ross Perot.

Avoid Montgomery County, lol, Expensive as hell, as a matter of facts it is the most expensive county in maryland, dont go to PG county, try frederick or Washington county, the more north you go away from DC, the cheaper it gets.
