That's another wonderful thing about Maryland there is so many different views. It just depends on where you live and what you see when you open your eyes take look around. There's just so much to take in.

Very true about the sunsets. I've often driven up I-270 in the evening, and when you clear that last ridge before Frederick, the whole city appears below you, with another ridgeline and the sunset forming the backdrop to the city.
I also agree about the hospitality. When I initially moved to Frederick in '04, I met all my neighbors almost immediately. Everyone was so nice, and I've never felt that welcomed anywhere, in all my years.

There's nothing more beautiful than watching the sunset on the Chesapeake Bay if you're over on Kent Island or if you're sitting on the pier at Chesapeake Beach watching the sun come up early in the morning and watch the fog burn off of the Bay, or to be sitting on the pier at Mike's Restaurant in Riva and watch the sun go down over South River while drinking a beer and eating crabs. Now that's living.

Oh, now that does sound great.
I assume crabbing is kind of a state hobby? I grew up crabbing on the 3rd Coast (TX) and remember it fondly.
I can check the parks website for permit info, but I just want to know, do folks do that still?

Absolutely, it's a state pastime in and around the Chesapeake Bay area, nothing like the taste of blue crabs from the Chesapeake Bay...

I think I'm gonna like Maryland. We'll be there about April Fool's!
Fort Detrick area, sadly a bit far from the Bay.
Will have to find a little park to stay in or something.

The Potomac river as it winds around Charles county and heads on out to the Bay. You can see it as it appears on a map when taking an air flight south out of DCA.
At Indian Head it is crazy wide just as at Pope's creek, 301 bridge and Cobb island. There is a couple of places in between Pope's creek and the bridge that you can find 100 foot depths.
There are some places such as Mallows bay that are ethereal and some spots in which it narrows considerably.
I know the people that live where Rt 6 ends at the Potomac.
I used to like Point Lookout in St Mary's county but that was changed into a state park years ago. I think it is widest there.
I prefer the south and western sides of Charles county and hope it stays rural and pristine. It's too bad they are trying to develop a lot of it but it is wide open land with big lots, something those that settle for less than 1/2 acre don't appreciate.

Maryland public colleges are some of the most underfunded and least affordable in the United States.
If you have the degree... If you're working class, forget it.

True True
Everywhere has concerts.
Yeah, the STD rates are through the roof.
But unaffordable, particularly in the city - few decent low-end places, lots of chains. No Coney Islands or anything like that.

That's debateable, we're no NY City.
Maryland has little to be proud of when it comes to sports. It's players love to dope up and lose. I'm from Detroit, at least we have the Pistons and Red Wings.

Ya know there are lots of parks in Frederick County! In Frederick city, baker park is the most well known, right downtown. But go west a mile or so to the mountains and theres all sorts of trails and things!

In no particular order:
1. Baltimore Ravens
2. Maryland Terrapins
3. Near the Nation's Capital
4. Near to exciting major U.S. cities (New York, Philadelphia, etc.)
5. Lots of diversity
6. Nice scenery in the rural areas (Eastern Shore, Western Maryland, even in some sections of the big counties in the Baltimore-Washington metro areas)
7. Modern, techonologically advanced (good, high-paying jobs to be had)
8. Great airports in the area (BWI Marshall, National, Dulles)
9. The Chesapeake Bay
10. Beautiful Capital City of Annapolis
12. Interesting sights and sounds in downtown Baltimore
13. Verizon FiOS is available! LOL
14. Four seasons (I love snow!)
15. You can see mountains, rolling countryside, serene water vistas, beaches, and also experience vibrant big city amenities without leaving the state
16. Amazing colleges and universities (Johns Hopkins, University of Maryland, U.S. Naval Academy, et al)
17. World class health and medical institutions
18. Easily get to wonderful locations in PA, VA, WV, OH, NY, NJ (etc.) within a matter of hours
OK...that's it for now.
