Hello all I'd like remind everyone of the topic "What do you love about Maryland"! Just because someone loves one area doesn't mean everyone will. We have so many different area's there is something for everyone. So stay positive and there are alot of other blogs and posts to put all the things you don't like.

i have lived in the area and the surrounding areas all my life and trust me its nothing quaint or pretty. it is a very dirty place. i work downtown so yes i know what im talking about. I travel it alot. Carroll Creek is a storm water management that the city spent millions of dollars on...yeah thats something to be proud of.

Very good point dhelfoioracle. We should stay positive - MD is a beautiful state and has so many great things going for it.

Note: mom2boys37 seems to have some kind of personal vendetta with Frederick. It's really a beautiful town, but it seems we can't have any discussion of Frederick w/out her getting negative. This has happened repeatedly on more than one thread.

I'm sorry if she didn't have a good experience living there, but she should get over it and instead focus on the positives she finds elsewhere.

I have posted what I like Oakland, Maryland. Not Deep Creek because its to many people from this area in their million dollar homes. If they only knew what the real Deep Creek homes looked like. They probably don't even realize McHenry doesn't even exist anymore because they flooded the area to make the lake.

My grandfather had a farm in Glen Isle on the South River just above Riva, I spent all my summers there as a kid and I enjoy the life on the river, there is a place in Riva called Mike's Crab House, I still go there quite often and will sit out on the deck in the evening overlooking the river with some friends over a bushel of crabs and some beer and have a real good time, every once in a while my wife and I will go down into Annapolis, down to the harbor and get a cup of coffee and some sort of pastry and sit out there and watch the boats coming in and out, guess I have Chesapeake water in my blood, as I'm writing this I'm in my Log Cabin up in the Appalachian Mountains but I still have two residents back in Maryland and divide my time up between them, I'm a native Merlander, that's the way we pronounce it, and no matter where I go Maryland will always be home to me.

Yes there is alot of wonderful areas all over Maryland. In general some people are negitive about everything and think they know everything. I find that just because I don't like something doesn't mean everyone has to not like it. For example I'm not a fan of camping but others love it. That doesn't mean just because I don't like it no one should. Sometimes when people are so unhappy they forget how to be positive about anything and they can't except the fact that not everyone else is unhappy. Also I have a friend who's granddaughter just finished college who is looking to move and work in downtown Frederick. She says it's charming and there's not too much of the big city feel to it. I wish her luck and lots of happiness in Frederick.

Yup Im sure on Market Street near all the artsy places, restaurants and bars. I want these people to travel to the other parts of downtown than get back to me. Historic Frederick is alot more than a few areas.

Can you post something nice or positive without being negitive? At first thought you were just upset about how things have changed in howard county over the years but it seems your just unhappy about everything. I wish I could help you find something to be happy about I really feel bad for you. What whatever it is that made you angry remember it wasn't us. I don't know if this will help but every night I remeber tomarrow is a new day and I hope it's better then today. Good Luck in finding happiness and if I can ever help let me know.

Oh I'm happy. I don't know how you all think that my negativity towards places makes me unhappy. I don't sugar coat anything in any aspect of my life. Sorry, if I don't like an area it's my opinion just like it's your opinion to think this is such a fab place to live. I only like Garrett County in the state of Maryland and if you ask the natives of that county, they don't even consider themselves a part of this state.
