Tomorrow I am touring Annapolis, Ellicott City, Laurel, Columbia or other?
Hello!!!
My husband and I will be relocating to MD. We fly out tomorrow to go house hunting. My husband will work out of our home and travel for meetings to both Herndon VA and Cherry Hill NJ. We are looking for an upscale/premier location that is good for a couple in late 30’s with no children. We like a downtown area with restaurants, performing arts and activity, but safe.
We are scheduled to visit Annapolis, Columbia, Ellicott City, and Laurel.
Am I headed in the right direction for great locations? Any opinions? What other areas do you suggest?
We are really looking forward to moving to Maryland!

Laurel really isn't an upscale area yet. There are some nice developments going up but there isn't really anything in the way of performing arts or a downtown area. Laurel is centered around an old time main street (about a mile long). There are many strip malls and chain restuarants. I like it for what it is, but it doesn't sound like what you are looking for. However, it would be a central location to live and then drive to the amenities that you are looking for. Its located between DC and Baltimore and is close to the other cities you are looking at.

Relocating
Hello,
I would definitely suggest Annapolis and Severna Park. The restaurants are fantastic, the shopping is superb and the lifestyle is upscale. Good luck on your relocation.

Severna Park and Columbia do not have downtown areas. Towson has a small downtown area, but there are a lot of students there.
What type of home are you looking for? Is Baltimore a possibility? How about a nice downtown condo with a harbor view? With prices sliding back, you might be able to get a great deal.

We are also considering town homes within reason. I have a dog and also want parking so it can be tricky.
I was thinking about that regarding Towson. Any others to suggest? THANKS FOR ALL THE FEEDBACK!

Wha`ts your price range for houses or townhouses? Check out this website. Konterra - The Premier Business and Residential Community. This will be Laurel in the enxt 5 to 10 years but you will see for yourself how it looks when you drive around.

Based on your description you want Annapolis or Ellicott City. Both would be in the 500 - 900k range for a single family home near the downtown area. Both are quite safe and considered "upscale/premier" areas. Do let us know what you find!
(Although, personally, if I were in your position, I'd go for a condo at the Inner Harbor or a townhouse in Federal Hill, both in downtown Baltimore, but for you, I think Annapolis or Ellicott City is a better fit.)
