Default Edgewater vs. Cape St. Claire

Hi all!

This is my first post. I'm considering buying a home in either Edgewater or Cape St. Claire. I work in Annapolis, so both places are about 10-15 minutes drive from my work place. Both have good schools, with little to distinguish them from each other. Cape St. Claire seems quieter to me, but Edgewater has more shopping and amenities.

I'm looking for advice and pointers here. If you have an experience living in either or both of these areas, I'd appreciate it if you would share it here.

Thank you!

I have lived in both places. Edgewater has changed sooo much. It is way to congested for me now. Cape St Clarie you will have to deal with OC traffic during the summers if taking RT50. Its been awhile since I lived there and I am sure there are back ways now. Edgewater seemed to have more trouble, such as theft, drugs etc.... Cape St. Clarie at that time was more of an upper scale. Edgewater is trying to get there and might even be there. If it was me buying I would look at cape st clair. I would also look at Riva, Arnold or severna park, Sheerwood forest (Out past the mall towards crownsville) or go a little further south on 2 past edgewater towards davidsonville. It might be a little longer drive but you might find you like it.

I lived in Hillsmere and Harness Creek too. Both located in Annapolis. I enjoyed my time in both locals. They are probably a bit pricey these days. Something else that shoudl be considered also is the fact that they are not far from places like Robinwood and Bay ridge gardens which are both pretty much high crime communities. Good luck in your search

Cape for sure. Schools definately better, much less congested and lower crime rate.

mdstlrfan, thanks for other suggestions. those places (arnold, riva, severna park) are too expensive for me right now. edgewater and cape are a bit more affordable. as for living in annapolis proper (hillsmere etc.), the schools aren't that good, and that's an important consideration for me. i'm curious to hear more comments on edgewater vs. cape.
