Default Bethesda, MD or Arlington, VA

I wil be visiting the DC area and have a choice of either Bethesda, MD or Arlington, VA. As I will be using public transport into Washington, which of these two places has easier access to public transport into Washington? I am looking forward to read comments. Thanks everyone.

Arlington.
Maryland sucks...
But honestly, there is more access to MetroRail in Arlington than in Bethesda. There's also more sights to see in Arlington (if that floats your boat), and if you're really gung-ho, you can walk to the Mall from Arlington, compared to being limited by mass transit in Bethesda.

I think part of this depends on age. If you are a young professional just out of college I think you will find more people like you in Arlington. If somewhat older, maybe Bethesda. Both have good public transportation and nightlife and restaurants and singles.

Yes, there are Metro stops all over the Courthouse/Rosslyn areas of North Arlington, which is probably where most of the hotels are anyway (how long are you staying?).

You should read up about Bethesda and Arlington. If you don't choose Bethesda, perhaps you don't like a LOT of restaurants and shops.
