Relocating to Maryland! (Columbia, Ellicott City, Eldersburg: live, nice areas, areas)

I am thinking of relocting to Maryland from Dallas,Texas (big change I know) and am looking for a little help. It is for personal reasons and do plan on taking my time. I have been to a few towns in the state an just feel in love. It also helps that I have a very close friend is southern PA. I am a 32yr old female and just looking for any first-hand information on a couple smaller cities or towns.

I have an aunt that lives in Grapevine. When I visited that general area, I thought it reminded me of Columbia (being close to the mall). I thought Flower Mound reminded me of Ellicott City or Clarksville. If you are looking for smaller towns Odenton, Crofton, Eldersburg strike me as nice areas with a "smaller town" feel. At the same time, you aren't far from anywhere you will want to go.
