Just off of reading your previous posts it doesn't even seem like that you're either too scared to/or just refuse to even step foot in either Baltimore City or Washington,DC. Weren't you the one that said the National Zoo was in a bad neighborhood??? So I stand by my "before you start bashing" comment. Boring??? are you kidding me if it's so boring then why haven't you packed up and left yet? Try Arizona after you get used to the new scenary here it's gets really BORING!!!!!!

You must have low standards.

I don't know how you've managed to avoid uptight, competitive people in Charlotte. Everyone here has to have a nicer car, newer house, blonder hair, bigger fur coat.

The difference between Charlotte and New Jersey is that in Charlotte, it takes someone 5 minutes to spit out what a Jersey person can say in 10 seconds. That's not "nicer", it's just slower, and usually terribly passive-aggressive. And the Charlotte person doesn't have nearly as much to say (at least that's worth listening to).

Charlotte is the Stepford City, the exact opposite of a young, happening, creative, walkable city.

In other words, you like being pushy, loud, crass, and obnoxious, and a haughty pseudo-intellectual, among other things, but you can't stand being called on it, and everyone should be able to see how wonderful and superior you are no matter how you talk to them or treat them..Especially the lowly Southerners. From everything I've read from you about Charlotte, that's what it boils down. There is one word that would more succinctly sum this up, but it's not usable here.

I think people up north take their jobs TOO seriosuly sometimes, bosses are too demanding etc. I'm a pharmacy tech right now in Potomac and the customers, many of them have northern accents and they're very pushy and demanding and unreasonable. They yell at the staff for no reason. I cannot imagine living north of the Mason-Dixon Line and working at the pharmacy has really turned me off to anyone from the north.

So in North Carolina, I only have to be slightly better than anyone and I'll look really really good. I think that's a good thing. Honestly I like a relatively laid-back, non-competitive lifestyle. Its better for your heath too. I'm not surprised so many people in Potomac get anti-depressants and high blood pressure medication from the pharmacy.
people still mention the mason dixon line? when did americans start taking such a thing serious ,its so old so outdated and never had much credibility due to its history and the history that contradicted it(illegal slavery in northern states). i thought we all go by the northeast corridor lol

What makes someone a psuedo-intellectual, that they disagree with you? This is Charlotte in a nutshell -- dissent must not exist. If you disagree, you're going to Hell. That's the South, and that's Charlotte, and you can have it. And yes, I am better than that, and I don't care if you see it or not, or agree or not. I've given up trying to talk to Charlotte people. It's a lost cause.

I am 23 and have lived in Maryland all my life. I grew up in Southern, Maryland and since college have been living in the Towson area. I hate it more and more each day. I am starting to think about moving down South to possibly SC when I am able.

Here is my list:
Rude people
People in "cliques"
I think people are too "work-a-holic" Here. Their lives revolve around working, which to me is sad
Traffic
Road Rage
Winters are just too cold for me
I love Calvert County but it's getting too overpopulated

I just know there has to be something better out there.

If you do not speak English and want to be American, you should get the hell out of our country. I say this as an Asian American born in the U.S. who assimilated and is patriotic and loyal to this nation.

2. Housing policy, at least in Montgomery COunty. They are pushing high-density development and discouraging the construction of condos and apartments. That's not the kind of lifestyle I want. I need to live in a single-family house in the suburbs or a small town with a big yard and ideally a front porch. I need at least a 4 bedroom house with a two car garage at the bare minimum. This is the basic American lifestyle. This is America, not Europe, not Asia. Honestly, I prefer the "sprawl" of Phoenix and Raleigh over high-density cities like Washington, D.C. or New York City.
Amen Terrapin! I just returned from burying my mom at Arlington with my dad. I decided to stay at my sister's home in Rockville (my hometown). When I grew up, MC had great schools and it was a pleasant place to live. Now, however, I see signs that the same thing is happening in MC that happened in CA where I resided for over 25 yrs-- that is, illegal aliens, sprawl, traffic and crime (along with deteriorating schools). The MC liberals allowed this nonsense along with jackass O'Malley. I have lived in MD, CA, CO, and FL and it's all the same thing--illegal aliens and increasing crime coupled with deteriorating schools and quality of life.

However, don't go to CA or AZ because you will have more illegals and lousy schools along with congestion and sprawl with high real estate costs. Each time I go to MC it looks worse and worse to me, and I lament the MC that I grew up in with great memories. It truly makes me sick. I loved MD as a kid, and I loved attending UMD, but I would never live there now even if I had the bucks to afford it. The continual development and influx of illegals along with the increasing crime and gang activity will continue to eat away at the quality of life in MC as well as other areas of MD. BUT, be careful! Anyone who dares to mention these points (especially illegal immigration) will automatically be labeled "racist" by some of the liberal jerks who have created this situation in the first place. Hey, take it from me! I SAW what has happened to CA and FL and it is now happening to MD (especially MC). This is the legacy of liberal policies of many years.
I just feel sorry for the people (like some of my friends who can't leave) that are fed up with MD and MC. The rest of my friends have moved to ME and other places just to get away from the MD and MC mess. You spoke the truth, but few want to admit it; however, as the crime and gang activity increases along with the downhill slide of the school system the spectre of what happened in CA will become more obvious to many. The MD and MC I knew is gone forever just like CA and FL. Personally, I'm going to the hills. I was here in FL only because I needed to care for my elderly mother. She fled here from CA after my dad died and she was robbed by illegals in SD (and could have been seriously injured).Take my advice; and, if you are able, get into the hills somewhere far from the large metro areas because they ALL suck!!! Good luck!
