I agree with all of you. I live in southern maryland and I can not believe how expensive it is here. I have lived here for about 9 months and I will be moving away in July. This place is just too expensive for what you get.

Hey no one told you to vote for those Tax Guzzeling anti-Growth Democratic Lawmakers to Run the County you live in and the State............

And I promise you that if you plan on moving south such as Georgia(Atlanta), or North Carolina(Charlotte) it will be just as Expensive............

It's all relative. I grew up on Long Island. I recently read that houses in my hometown now *average* $1 million. !!!! My 4BR, 2BA, 2 car garage home in Anne Arundel county just went on the market in the low $500s -- certainly not cheap, but not the $1 million that the 4BR colonial I grew up in would sell for.

I found the "keeping up with the jonses" issue much worse on LI than in my part of MD. Taxes are higher on LI. People are ruder on LI.

I appreciate that MD has changed over the years -- but show me a place that hasn't!

That said, we are moving to New Hampshire for a variety of reasons, but the desire for less crowds and traffic, more open space, and a lower cost of living top the list. Not surprisingly, though, folks in the NH forum biotch and moan constantly about how expensive it is there. But to me, it's soooo cheap up there! Again, it depends on where you're coming from and what you are used to.

YMMV...

Everyone is complaining. I know people in Tenn who are complaining and I wonder why? When the cost of living is so cheap in Tenn compare to MD. You can purcahse a nice home in a nice community in the low $100k. The DC area is expensive but it depends upon where you live in MD. The further you move from the city the cheaper it is. Same goes for evey State.

I hated moving to NC at first but after 2 years I've realized that I wouldn't have had many other options. Single living in MD is simply far too expensive. I had a job that was going to pay me 12.50 and I would be stretching it to pay my bills in an apartment and that was before the massive increase in electricity prices. I love MD; the scenery, the people and all the big cities, but it simply isn't a viable option for me.

12.50?????????

You must not have really been trying hard enough to look for a High Paying Job and Affordable Residential Apartment in Maryland......

If you like living in Backwater Country NC thats fine but don't expect to find any place of Employment down there that pays very High........

Actually I am making $2.00 more than I was in MD doing the same exact job. They can be found but you have to look. Plus experience helps as well as getting in the corporate world, I work for the second largest healthcare system. BTW, I absolutely love NC but wish I was a little further out in the Back water Country. God knows my former backwater country in MD has become the bedroom community for the DC area.
