Anyone famililar with Harve de Grace,MD?
We would love to know a bit more about it.
What type of town it is, what is there to do, medical care, climate...
Can we get a single family 4 bedroom home for about 350K [ give or take a little? ]
Does anyone like or dislike living there?
We hate living in NJ and have been looking about some southern states but also want some info here if possible. We're open to anything about nice nearby cities also.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Deb

Bused there for high school and its a quite friendly town. Everyone knows everyone. a culture blend of good people. Smallest school in the county and very nice to raise a family. Good overall community. Best kept secret in Harford County.

Do you want to be in the quaint, downtown section, or more of a suburban development feel? Newer consutruction? Older (50s/60s)? Or very old (1800s)?
Actually, in looking through the current listins, you can find something in all of the catergories ;-) Two examples: Hr6262928 (1920s victorian with 6 baths downtown for $380k) and Hr6313773 (1993, 4 bed, 3.5 bath, in a development for $350k),

Hi rubytue,
For myself I'd say living in an older quaint neighborhood is nice. My husband would take a look at either area.
I guess I'd be open to both as it seems both areas fit our price range.
We really have to take another trip donw and check things out more when we're ready to make the move. Right now things are up in the air time wise because of my father-in-laws health.
Thanks for your input!

Live where others come to play!!
I'm 45yrs young, grew up in HdeG w/4bros 1 Sis and now live in Darlington 15min away out w/ the horses. Growing up there for kids is great, a mix of ethnic bkgrnds and small classes. Kids can bike around town, fish, boat, rec sport teams, go over friends houses or out for pizza/ice cream with little worries. Adults can play on the river, bike/walk around town, some nice dining choices. Live down town you can bike around, live up on the hill and you need to drive to the ice cream store or park. New home by the Golf course on the hill 400k+. 225k+ small house down town. 1/2 acre lot or more require living up on the hill or further. Couple hours to the Ocean or Skiing, 15min to Susquehanna State Park(fish, canoe, horse trails, hiking,mt bike). Balt Inner Harbor 1/2hr away(major concerts, plays,Pro sports,National Aquarium, Zoo,Fells Point Dining), 2hrs Smithsonian Museums, National Zoo)

I work in Havre de Grace and can say mostly positive things about the town. It is a mix of ethnic backgrounds. They have a Litte League teams, festivals, the best resturants, places to walk, it is fairly safe with the exception of minor theft and some drug activity. The high school has about 730 students. It does have its share of lower income areas. The houses have huge ranges of prices so you should be able to find a house in your price range. As far as medical care, Baltimore is less than an hour away and has lots of hospitals. The town its self has one little hospital and another one in Bel Air that is bigger. The job market is not that great but Baltimore is close enough to commute. The public transportation kind of stinks but you can commute to baltimore by bus or train. Any specific questions just ask.

Havre de Grace is an exciting little town to say the least. And yep, your impressions would be correct about the whole cultural blending thing. It just stands out more because everybody knows about each culture.
