Default Owings Mills - How is it?

Hello all,

How is the Ownings Mills area (between 795 and 83) ? I am considering purchasing a home in the area. I currently live in Ellicott City but cannot afford to purchase a home here.

I am not a Maryland native.

Thanks

Well, I lived in Baltimore City a few years ago and spent a lot of time in Owings Mills, shopping, restaurants, and I had friends who lived there. I think its probably pretty expensive to buy there as the whole Wash-Balt area is so expensive now. Its extremely congested with traffic, and crime was definitely on the rise when I lived out there. I think Ellicott City is a much nicer place to live than Owings Mills.

If you are in the Greenspring area with land and off the road with fenced in area, you should be fine. If you are in the city area or near Reisterstown Road, I would stay in Ellicott City. It all depends on which part of Owings Mills. As far as crime while you are out and about, it is equal to going out around Columbia. You will always have that When I lived there, I worked in Owings Mills off Cronhill and it was all industry but still relatively safe place considering I started working 6am and it was still dark out.
