A perfect example of what happens when you take PC too far. I doubt any of those people are offended and could really care less about the name of the holiday in the first place.

Seriously, why do some of us want to turn this country into an ultra PC country?

Seriously? I just searched the internet on that, and didn't find anything. I found that the Maryland State Capital even has a large christmas tree on the front lawn every year.

Well, Montgomery County is hardly anything like the rest of the state, and I wouldn't be surprised.

Even in Baltimore County many people are very conservative when it comes to taxes and illegal immigration, and moderately conservative when it comes to social issues.

Virginia is better in that the liberal elites of NOVA do not control the state, and the power lies in Virginia's rural, Southern areas. THis is why Virginia has much more sensible tax levels, gun laws, why its less welcoming to illegal immigrants, why it has lower tolls, etc. NOVA has high taxes but these are regional taxes so that people in Danville and Lynchburg don't have to pay for NOVA's transit needs, whereas in Maryland, Eastern Shore and Western Maryland residents are expected to subsidize the ICC, the DC Metro, and the Baltimore Light Rail through gasoline and sales taxes and tolls. They are raising tolls in Perryville and the Bay Bridge to pay for the ICC. While in Virginia, tolls in Hampton Roads are MUCH cheaper and some across the James River have been removed. Also in Virginia restaurants still are allowed to have smoking sections but not in nanny state Maryland. And even NOVA don't have nanny statism to the level of MoCo where plastic bags are taxed, even a little 4 foot hotel pool is required to have a lifeguard (the cost is passed on to the guest, or to apartment renters...) and restaurants can't use trans fats (I've heard people speculate this is why there is no Sonic, Waffle House, Bojangles or Cracker Barrell there). Also Montgomery's public buildings are not even allowed to have Christmas trees because it might offend the Muslims and Jews and athiests.
Political wise: Virginia is 100% > Maryland
Heritage and culture: Virginia = Maryland

I really wish they werent trying to redistrict the entire state to further push us conservatives to powerless people. Its sad that a state that is nearly 50/50 divided politically have such a power differential as we do...and they want more!!! We are a split state yet the liberals hold most of the cards and are now trying to seal that conservatives will never win despite representing half the state. Lunacy.

What I find funny is how the solid south was nearly pure democrat and now within a generation is pure republican. The parties seemed to change a bit and now instead of the democratic mindset being popular in most of the south (still so in WV, MD, KY, AR, NC although I might be off a tad) its the republicans that dominate most of our region with little pockets of "blue" here and there. Honestly feeling the way I do in MD I can understand the plight you mentioned if thats the case. But again Ill always state that partisan politics are literally killing this country. It feels like we are rotting from within when a democrat blocks a republican from doing something and then turns around and does it after they gain power and vice versa. The bickering between parties feels more like a "Only I can do that!" or "I want credit for that!" then them trying to help our nation.
