What is the difference between Joppa & Joppatowne? (Lutherville-Timonium: real estate, house)

Hi all thanks for answering my other posts. I am slightly confused. What is the difference between JOPPA & JOPPATOWNE? As far as the united states postal service website is concerned 21085 is for JOPPA MD...it states do not use JOPPATOWNE. I asked around and people tell me JOPPA is part of JOPPATOWNE? I am trying to remember if I saw an exit off of i-95 for JOPPA or JOPPATOWNE...I ask because I was looking at a house in JOPPA and was told "this is Joppa not Joppatowne" ????/

For all intents and purposes, they're both the same.

It's like the 21093 zip code. 21093 is either Timonium, Lutherville, or Lutherville-Timonium. Some people like to think one is better than the other, but to the post office and most mapping/GPS software it's the same.

thank you, I will have to give a certain real estate agent a butt kicking. I am an agent from NY and we have similiar things where people will say they live in a section of the town, that by the post office doesn't exist. Guess it makes them feel better.

Residents refer to Joppatowne is the area east of Route 7. YMMV.
