There are several banks in EC. I bank with 1st Mariner. Free checking and open on Sundays.

There are a lot of Chevy Chase banks in the area- as well as in most Giants.

I hate Chevy Chase. I have them as well since 1st Mariner isn't here in Frederick and they are awful. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone

I've had no problem with Chevy Chase and they seem to be everywhere.

what are you looking to do? Just a checking account and ATM? I don't think you'll find more ATM's around this area than Chevy Chase.. After banking with them for over 15 years... I don't think they're any better or worse then other brick and mortar banks today.
For the most part I bank with an online bank (i.e. ING), and just have a small amount at a credit union since they don't charge you for having very small amounts in a checking account in case I need to cut checks or get cash...
