Just curious if it's visible in MD. I read Charleston, SC would have the better view on the east coast.

It will only be about 85% of totality in Maryland, which is still very bright. I was fortunate enough to see the total eclipse that went up the coast in 1970. My mom took me to Assateague Island to see it. The reactions of the wild ponies and birds were interesting, as were the quick loss of solar heat and the weird twilight visibility. Seeing the solar corona with the naked eye was very impressive. Definitely something to be experienced if at all possible.

You won't, with a solar filter telescope it will look like a crescent.

I am sure there are fancier ways to view the eclipse safely, but here is the simple one.

Maryland will experience only a partial eclipse.

The best place to view the total eclipse would be in one of the states that are in the path of the total eclipse.

The best place to view the total eclipse in Maryland would be on TV or online.

The best place in Maryland to experience the partial eclipse that will be visible here would be outdoors (with the appropriate safety gear for eye protection, of course -- do not stare at the sun without appropriate eye protection).
