My SO and I are thinking of moving to the area because there are job opportunities for him.I am a self employed author/artist who is looking for part time potential job opportunities such as:
Library Page
Comic Book Store Associate
Record Store Associate

Would prefer something creative and not anything big box related. When I look online I do not see any thing posted and it is rather alarming. Was curious if anyone knew of any possible jobs that would work for me.

There are many big box stores in Rockville, and rather few of the creative stores. The real estate is quite expensive. I suspect one has to be on the ground and known by the employer. However, you might try cold-calling the used book stores like Second Story Books or Wonder Books.

As you probably already know, jobs that are "fun and fulfilling" as you have enumerated are in short supply or don't really pay squat. There's a reason why people get paid to do the boring dirty jobs like I/T, Finance, Health Services, Construction, Sanitation, Engineering, Food Service, Law Enforcement, etc...because society can't function without them. I can't name a single person who has ever been to comic book store let alone worked at one and I would venture that the majority of the population hasn't either.

If all you want is to keep yourself from getting bored and make a little pocket change, then fine. However if you want to help pay the rent and living expenses, then you might consider biting the bullet, rolling up your sleeves and doing something that someone is willing to pay you for.

^I think if a person wants to work a creative job they are fully aware of what they are getting into. I dont think that warrants a mini life speech.
