I am
craving some hot yummy Vietnamese noodle soup. But I live in Columbia and I haven't seen any Vietnamese restaurants while driving around... might have seen one in Catonsville (695 and Balt pike) but not sure.
Any places you can recommend?
Oh and what about Thai places - some spicy basil rice might also do.

You should visit Arlington or Falls Church. Eden center in Falls Church is the Mecca of Asian restaurants but I suggest weekdays because the crowds are unreal on weekends. Asian restaurants thrive in NoVA.

There is definitely a Vietnamese restaurant that serves pho in Catonsville in the same shopping center as Babies R Us and Office Depot and Room Store. It's on the same side as the Heavenly Ham. I had pho there and liked it, but it was only my first time eating pho, so I had nothing to compare it to.

There's a place that serves pho in Columbia, right by Akbar off of Little Patuxent. I've never been there though...

There's definitely a place in Cantonsville by I-695 and Baltimore Pike in the shopping center where the Lowes, Chuck E. Cheese, and Sams Club is located. It's located by where the Sprint store is located. The shopping center is located on the eastern side of I-695. I've been there a couple of times and like it.

there is a oriental grocery up on rt 40 near ellicot city and the walmart. it sits kind of in the median. Sorry Ive forgotten the name.

I shop at the H-mart in Catonsville so I will check out the one near Walmart the next time or the other near Sams club.

I second the An Loi suggestion!!! We just had lunch there today!
Also, if you head up the north Baltimore, across from the Senator Theater is a restaurant called Saigon Remembered. GREAT restaurant! DH and I went on our first official date there!

Also, if you head up the north Baltimore, across from the Senator Theater is a restaurant called Saigon Remembered. GREAT restaurant! DH and I went on our first official date there!
