Already discussed this past week at the MaCO conference in Ocean City.

Hogan has taken some criticism for removing the Taney statue and the fault lines about that opened up among Democratic officials and potential candidates over there.

Maybe it's time to move the "Sometimes I want to leave Maryland" thread to Current Events, and change the name to "Sometimes I want to leave the US".

This name business is getting to be ridiculous.

The state song will almost certainly be changed this year. Negro Mtn. could become an renewed issue, although if memory serves there is only so much the state can do. The state flag will come under conversation, but will probably survive a bit longer.

Taneytown is probably safe unless the state has the sole power to change it. I am pretty sure the folks in Carroll County have little desire to change the name, and it is likely safe because if the slope gets that slippery names from Baltimore city to Washington County will all be under the same cloud as "being named after people who supported slavery." I don't think the current fervor will extend that far, but WDIK?
