Verizon Fios or Comcast???
We're getting ready to switch from Comcast to Fios, I'd like to hear what other's experiences have been. We're fed up with our cable/phone/internet going out, and think we got a pretty good deal to switch. The salesguy told us that we'll be able to get movies that are in the theaters ON DEMAND! Anyone know if this is true, or if we misunderstood?

i'm so excited for fios. the verizon guy was just at the end of my driveway 2 weeks ago hanging a new box on the pole. i asked him if it was fios and when he said yes, i stopped my car, jumped out and shook his hand. i'm so done with comcast.
my mom has fios in annapolis and loves it. not sure about current, in-theatre movies being available. that doesn't sound right. verizon has no control over that...that's the studio's/distributor's call.
latest consumer reports has fios as the highest rated (by far) in terms of service and satisfaction for cable/internet/phone providers. comcast was next to last!

I made the switch and have never been happier. The people installing Fios were by far more professional too. As far getting movies on demand that are still in theaters that is not true.

I've had both, I really don't see the difference between the two.

Is there a way -- aside from calling Verizon and asking -- of figuring out where FIOS is available? Like a map on their website?
I get the shakes when I think about calling Verizon.

We switched to Verizon a year ago and there have been no problems. That's the important part - no problems. With Comcast, our internet service was always going out and it took forever to get service. We're not big TV watchers so all the extra FIOS channels weren't important to us, but we do enjoy some of them. Can't speak about Verizon service because we haven't needed it. It might stink as well, but as long as we don't have to find out, I'm happy.

You can enter your zip code on their website to see if Fios is available.

Better yet, for Fios, you can enter your exact home address to see if Fios is available. We actually have Fios and think it's great especially since we didn't have a land line or cable, so Fios was a great option!

The Verizon-FIOS website sucks. I typed in my address to see if I could get FIOS and they wanted my phone number. Fine. I put in my phone number and I get a message saying something like "Great news! High-speed internet is available at this location!"
Except from the details of the package (price, speed) it was obvious they were talking about DSL, not FIOS. There's no indication on that page that this "high-speed internet" they speak of is NOT FIOS.
It's as though they're deliberately trying to mislead people who don't know the difference in upload/download speeds. It's shameful. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
