Police Shoot Robbery Suspect After Chase|ABC 7 News
Some idiot robbery suspect led police on a chase through New Carrollton, Greenbelt and Lanham, before he was shot by a New Carrollton police officer.
This happened in my old neighborhood yesterday, right by my old elementary school. My grandmother had to take detours around police blockades yesterday to get to the nursing home to visit my grandfather. They had Good Luck Rd blocked off.

Yesterday was a rough day. In addition to that police chase/shooting,

1. A man and woman were shot outside of a church in Suitland (Couple Shot Outside Church in Suitland|ABC 7 News)

2. A man was shot outside of a nightclub in Camp Springs (the same club that the county shut down last year because of violence) (Man Shot Outside Prince George's Co. Nightclub - News Story - WRC | Washington)

3. A 13 year old boy accidentally shot and killed his 15 year old brother in District Heights (Police: Boy Accidentally Shoots, Kills Brother|ABC 7 News)

Last year at this time we had 42 homicides, 21 in March 2007 alone. As of today, there have been 23. That's 23 too many, but I would say that's a tremendous improvement.

Yes, we have crime in PGC. We're working on it.

Oh, I agree that the county has done a pretty good job of reducing violent crime (particularly in the areas that the article mentioned, Capitol Heights, Suitland, etc). I was just pointing out that yesterday was a particularly bad day. The good news is that the couple shot outside the church and the guy shot outside the nightclub are all expected to survive.

That's so sad about the boy who accidentally shot his brother. How would he ever get over that?
