Default Moving from Georgia-commute from Bethesda to Beltsville???

I think my husband has had it with the south He has an opportunity in Beltsville and I will most likely find a job in DC. I was told Bethesda would be good for me (about 1/2 commute to DC).

How bad will it be for dh during rush hour? Does he have to drive or would he have an option to take a train/bus?

Thanks so much!!! I am getting really excited about moving there!!

There isn't convenient public transportation from Bethesda to Beltsville. The commute will most likely involve our Beltway which is highly congested during the rush hours. Others might be able to give you a more accurate time frame but my best guess is 30-45 minutes on average. I consider it an ugly commute but then any commute in the metro DC area is ugly.

You'll be travelling the Beltway from Bethesda to Beltsville. Traffic is not good. From about 3pm until 6:30pm you can just sit on the loop....it's not great. During non-rush hours....maybe 1/2 hr...

I'm working in North Bethesda (our office relocated just 2 weeks ago) and I live in Laurel (right up the road from Beltsville). My commute is about 45 minutes at worst. From Beltsville, you can take the back roads to Route 355. Randolph Road has been working good for me. Its seems like a long, tedious drive, but there haven't been any back ups (yet!). I've even taken the Beltway to 95 home and even though I hit grid lock as soon as I get on 495, I can still get home in 30-45 minutes.

Thanks to all who replied!! I am narrowing it down to Bethesda because of commute. I may consider Silver Spring because of daycare availability and costs, but I guess that is another thread..
