Thank you, and I ask those questions becuase all my kids felt the same way as you do and they were all good hard working young adults like you seem to be . I just finished moving my youngest to Colonial Beach from Charles county where she works . Late 20's and likes the "vibe" as she put it in Fredericksburg better than Annapolis and she said she is only 25/30 mins away in the mean time she has a nice place close to the water she couldn't get anywhere else for decent money.

Apparently not my entire post submitted. My apologies. I have not been feeling well since I posted..

The house I live in now will be on the market this year. So, my parents will no longer be living in this county. I will have no family here, so no need to be close. I have personal reasons as well as simply not liking the area or the people. I just want to know what area is good, and why.

I will go from there and look for a new job. Currently I attend Grad school and work as a supervisor. I have been looking for jobs around Baltimore, DC, VA and MD. What areas have you been to or live, would you recommend based on crime and diversity?

Google says, Colonial Beach is 47 minutes drive from downtown Fredericksburg. And even more than that from West Fredericksburg where most of the shopping is located.

Downtown LaPlata is 60 minutes drive from downtown Fredericksburg, and even more from West Fredericksburg where most of the shopping is located. Waldorf is even further still, from Fredericksburg.

I'm sorry you were't feeling well, glad you are better. I'm also sorry to have been so critical, it was a result from a situation that happens here often. What we see here often is a poster will start a thread like this, get a ton of responses, then disappear. Makes us wonder why we bothered. We also get a whole lot of folks complaining about our state and that get's a bit tiring. As the board's official curmudgeon I feel it my duty to react when this happens.

As for your situation I can certainly see why you would like to move, I sure would not like to be your age and living down that way as I too would find it boring. As for where to move I'm a bit unclear here when you say $400,000. Is that your purchase price budget? Your parents? If this is not your budget, which is probably true as a young student, then will you be looking to rent?

I was saying Colonial Beach was about 25/30 mins away from Fredericksburg not waldorf. All so I don't pretend to stick to the posted signs.

........and yes I have made it from Marie's restaurant in La Plata to Mary Washington's soccer fields in 45/50 mins.

Easton on the Eastern Shore. Safe, lots of work, lots of younger people. Restaurants, bars, shopping. Plenty to do, awesome YMCA, and other fitness places( to meet people). Water everywhere, cute little towns friendly people, farms open land. I could go on, an hour from the beach.... lived in the area for 37 years.
