BWI is much closer, so is Dover, De airport. You might want to look into either one of those. Glad you got a chance to come and visit. Have you thought about taking the train in?
I just wanted to chime in about the weather, it was 70 here today You can go to weather.com and type in easton, md then click on the monthly tab. That will then bring up what the averages are. The beginning of April our averages are 60's and the end of April they start to get towards the 70's.
I am curious to hear what this Narrows thing is as well.

The Narrows (more properly Kent Narrows Bridge area) is what connects Kent Island to Grasonville - there use to be only a little bridge here but about 15 years ago an over pass was built to make getting to Ocean City easier.
There are quite a few excellent resturants and hotels in this immediate area - Fisherman's Inn - Red Eye Dock Bar - Annies - the Hilton Garden Inn - The Jetty to name a few. They are open all year but come summertime (also known as CRAB SEASON ) they are really jumping.
Everyone is friendly and it is a lot of fun

In my opinion the downsides are being far away from shopping and entertainment. But for some that may be a positive. However Easton is growing and with Target just opening and Kohl's, Best Buy, Belk, etc. right behind it I think there will be more growth. I think Easton would be perfect if it were just a little easier and quicker to get to DC and Baltimore. However any closer and it would probably be more of a bedroom community. But the other night I made it from downtown Baltimore, right by Camdem Yards to my driveway in Easton in exactly one hour. Of course there was no traffic. But living here you are fairly equal distances from Ocean City (Rehoboth or Assateague Island if OC isin't your thing), Baltimore, DC, all within 90 minutes. You are close enough to visit all these areas fairly quickly without having to deal with daily life there.
As far as airports, BWI is definately closer and there is a shuttle that will pick you up at the Easton airport and drive you to BWI fairly cheap so you don't have to leave your car. The airport in Easton is growing also, they say its the second busiest airport in the state, so I wouldn't be surprised to see daily flights to BWI or DC or Philly airports to come in the future. Currently you can get a flight from Salisbury to a connecting flight in Philly.

I agree with you, Mike. At least the Queenstown Outlets (I think that's the name) aren't too far away. As for real entertainment, driving to Annapolis is probably the best option.
IMO, Easton's downtown is the best amongst any of the Eastern Shore Cities.
Regardless, don't move anywhere on the ES expecting tons of entertainment, jobs & a wide variety of food options. The ES is quaint, rural by comparison, and less expensive than the rest of MD.

We're not looking for Entertainment
Not much anyway! We want a quiet, peaceful existence, and to us having access to some boating, a few good restaurants (and the ones we ate at were great), a movie theatre and a library are all we really want/need.
I did notice the outlets on the way out and in. I assume there is a grocery store in Easton?
What about veterinary care?
We'd probably just bike, kayak, boat, garden, read, and go out to eat once in awhile.
We are 45 minutes now from Boston and go there once a year if that for dinner in the North End or a basketball game. But that's not a priority for us. I've been to both DC and Baltimore, and am not a fan of either. We might go into Annapolis now and then. It's nice that it is there.
Good healthcare, safety (low crime - a place we're not afraid to walk at night) a lower cost of living than where we are now and a milder climate are our priorities.
Wish we could move now!!
p.s. What is Rehobeth like? I had read about Lewes being nice but our innkeeper told us it is not really a beach (??!!)

Rehobeth is widely known as a gay beach (not that there's anything wrong with that). Just so you know, is all. But, I've had buddies go there and they said after the first day or so, you just get used to it, and they didn't get "hit on" or anything like that. Just a few miles south of Rehoboth is Dewey beach. My wife and I went there in April a few years back and really liked it. But, I've heard that during the season it's a real party town. The hotels are low-rise and quite old. We stayed at the Surf Club and were satisfied with everything except the bed comfort, but made do. Hope this helps, and others may have differing opinions.

Are "Outsiders" welcome in Easton?
One thing I forgot to ask - important to us...
Are "outsiders" welcome in a town like Easton?
I know some places you can live 20 years and still not be accepted if you were not born there. Is Easton like that?

just about eveyone in easton nowadays is an "outsider" no problems there.....you may find work in easton. Salisbury is another place to look for work with your experience....I would drive to salisbury before i went to annapolis.
Kent Narrows is an annex of anne arundel county (annapolis) yes there is some decent restruants there but not much of a destination if ya ask me.....locals call it Kent Burnie....for all the transplants.....Lewes Delaware, Rehobeth, Salisbury and OC are where ya want to look for entertainment. Dover is approx and hour from Easton and there is shopping there as well as Salisbury and the Delaware beaches (outlets). Easton has everything you need on a daily basis and some people probably never leave to "shop". Easton has just about everything nowadays....
Swimming will be fine most places until the hottest months...I wouldnt worry bout jellyfish too much.
