Belk store to open at Valley Mall | Local News | heraldmailmedia.com

It's listed on Belk's website as well: COMING SOON Belk Hagerstown MD | belk

As for the outgoing store: https://eprretailnews.com/2017/07/22...ear-684595509/

This Bon-Ton was formerly the flagship of Hagerstown-based Eyerly's.

Dequindre...hearing rumors Boscov's is taking another anchor spot. Have you heard anything? I sort of doubt it....though remember an article in the Herald Mail a few years back saying they were interested in a Hagerstown location.

It seems like a definite possibility. I heard that both Belk and Boscov's were interested in the former Macy's space after they closed. That space is smaller than the former Bon-Ton, so maybe that's why Belk passed on the Macy's. I also heard that Boscov's thought the former Macy's may be too small for them as well. However, the Sear's (soon to be closed) is about the same size as Bon-Ton, so maybe Boscov's will go there.

I'm not sure how that would go over. NoVa standards are REALLY high, and there is a lot of competition. Boscov's is a humble small-town Pennsylvania department store chain.

I think it would do well (depending on the area) - Pa. is where I came across it for the first time (I haven't been to the Hershey/Lebanon area for a while but I try to hit the store when I am in the area).

I'm going to follow this thread to see if it does come to Hagerstown and hit that one sometime.

I don't understand your logic. Are you asserting that Boscov's sells products that NoVa folks are not interested in? There are plenty of NoVa residents that aren't millionaires.

I would certainly welcome a Boscov's in either or both locations

Yes, I am saying that many NoVA residents would probably prefer brand names from brand name stores or luxury department stores. Even Macy's seems to be struggling in NoVA these days, and that's kind of the upper end of the midscale department stores.

Well there is a Boscov's in Frederick, Maryland, as well as locations in neighboring Pennsylvania. But it seems like they would possibly consider a Hagerstown location, in either the former Macy's or Sears locations. Unless the arrival of Belk in the former Bon-Ton location would be considered too much similar competition. But Belk stores vary from moderate to upscale, especially their high end flagship locations.
