That is a bit of stretch wouldn't you say! There is a elementary school in the neighborhood (Apple Grove Elementary), as well as an aprtment high rise (private hill, very expensive rent which keeps most Section 8 out), and new and older townhouses (The older section DOES look rather run down, and if there are any problems within the neighborhood that is where it is coming from, mostly absentee landlords and the such). You have easy access to walking via Tucker Road Park/Henson Trail, as well as access to the park which has an Ice Skating rink, and a golf course. On the other side of Bock Road, you have Rosecroft Raceway which has horse racing and concerts every now and then.
You are also within about 5 minutes from the Nat. Harbor. Truthfully, you are also within about 5 minutes away from the Oxon Hill/Glassmanor/Southview area which is very close to the Southeast DC line, so their can be a little trouble further down Oxon hill RD/ST. Barnabas RD, and Indian Head Highway heading towards the District and Marlow Heights. However, none of these areas are in the neighborhood, just keep it in mind for when you do your shopping.
The neighborhood itself is pretty clean, nice older homes, with a nice community feel (many older residents) . If you have older children, they will go to Friendly High School which is a pretty good school witha great athletic program.
Younger kids they will either go to Isaac Gourdine middle school (formerly Lord Baltimore) or Apple Grove.
When you are saying Forest Knolls, are you meaning Forest Heights?
