Default Hagerstown Schools?

Thinking of moving from Arbutus to Hagerstown for a more affordable home. Does anyone know about the schools in Hagerstown? My commute will be to Bathesda and I don't want to drive more then an hour or so, but I want a single family home for less then 300k near good schools. Any thoughts?

Good luck getting from Hagerstown to Bethesda in one hour. I would take at least that long from Frederick on a good day. Rushover is rough on I-270 from Frederick all the way to D.C. You have have to look in Frederick County if an hour commute is your limit.

Clear Spring and Smithsburg have the better reputations.

If you don't mind speeding, you "might" be able to make it to Bethesda in 1 hour. I-70 isn't near as congested as I-270, but that's still a good hike. I can make it to BWI in 1:15 but that's not during rushhour.

I used to work in Bethesda and lived in Frederick and Hagerstown before. I can tell you neither will be less than an hour drive to Bethesda.

If you are looking for a SFH for less than $300K with good schools, I would picked Hagerstown. You will have to commute anyway.

Good luck.
