Does anyone know anything about the Belmont Station apartments in Elkridge -- specifically, what is the location like?

I was around the corner at a gymnastics event this morning and drove through. I assume you know the location is an industrial park area, not exactly a residential. For someone unfamiliar with the area, that's probably the first thing they would notice. Not exactly peaceful and tranquil. That said, you couldn't find a location more convenient to the major thoroughfares, Rts 100 and 95. There is a stoplight at the intersection of the side road and Rt 1, so that's good. The complex itself is still under construction so it was a little hard to drive around. I'd ask about parking because even though empty spaces were plentiful, I don't think many units are occupied and it didn't look like there were an abundance of spaces. The townhomes seemed to have garages and there were some covered parking structures. Don't know if they were for the apartments. The appearance of the buildings was pleasing and upscale, not budget cheap, but the whole complex looked congested to me. Like if there was a major snowstorm, there wouldn't be any room for snow or cars. Part of that impression could be coming from the construction. The road that you take from Rt. 1 goes through the industrial park. Belmont Station is at the end of an offshoot from that road. So it's surrounded by highways and the industrial park. Personally, I think I would a little isolated there because I would be going into Columbia to shop and the residential areas there are much nicer. It's probably a fine place to rent if you're new to the area and want to rent something new and attractive temporarily. But there's no way I would buy anything there.

Thanks so much for all of the info -- I am moving from MI so am new to the area and had no idea it was in an industrial park. I knew there had to be some reason the rents were way more reasonable than the places I was finding in Columbia. Looks like I will be sticking to Columbia, though!

It doesn't seem like a bad neighborhood- I've driven through, and toured the models. They will have a clubhouse, that looks like it will be nice. The only problem I see is that area of rte 1 can get very congested during rush hour. There are some nice apartments off rte 40 in Ellicott City (21042), but I have no idea what the prices are.
