Moving to Poolesville
We are moving to Poolesville this summer and have a 9-year old daughter. Can anyone give me the skinny on either Poolesville Elementary and/or Monocacy Elementary? Also I am looking for suggestions for after school activities for her in the area. Thanks!

Did you end up moving to Poolesville? If yes, how do you like it? Is it a good place to live if you have kids? How do the schools seem to be?

Poolesville Life
Yes, we are here! Came in mid-July and are now finally feeling settled. P-ville is gorgeous and friendly. A real gem. The only drawback is that you have to drive to Germantown or Gaithersburg for everything. 20 miles one way from my end of P-ville. But, driving home, I think how nice it is to live here. The public elementary school is great. If you want to learn more, let me know and I'll give you my private email address.

I would love to learn more about Poolesville, so please give me your email address. You answered my main question though, which was one of my biggest concerns, the fact that you have to drive so far to get to things (such as restaurants, etc.) Is it really that far (20 miles one way) just to get to everything? How long does that drive take, time wise? Do the positives of the area outweigh the negatives? Thanks for your advice.

Poolesville update--email me any time
Please feel free to email--it's easier than communicating this way. Moderator cut: Please use the DM feature to contact other members.. I can fill you in. It also would help me frame my answer if I know a little more about you...are you considering moving here? Do you work, have kids, pets, special interests...ie. that need consideration when determining where to live? I do like Poolesville, but yes, it's a little far from things. However, that same feature is what helps keeps this place very special. Looking forward to hearing from you via normal email, Elena

Hi Elena, Thanks for the reply, but the moderator took out your email address, so I'm not sure what to do We are a military family with two boys at home that will be attending middle school in the fall, 6th and 8th. I work part-time, but will probably stay at home for awhile once we move. My biggest concern with Poolesville is the lack of restaurants... and I would love to have a movie theatre nearby! I get it that the faraway location adds to the charm and the safety of the area, but do you ever feel it is just to far from everything? Plus, how would a commute be from their to the Pentagon? Thanks again for your advice
