Just an FYI, DCA is tha airport code for National Airport. So folks may be thinking you are looking for public transit to the airport.

Anyway, google the Marc trains. If you can get to Union Station, you can hop on metro and get to L'enfant fairly easily by taking the red line a stop of two to Chinatown, then transfering to the Yellow/Green line.

Default Columbia-DC commute

Having made that commute for many years via bus, carpool, van pool and train, the MARC train -- while not perfect -- was the most satisfactory in terms of speed and comfort. There are two trains routes, the Camden line and the Penn line. From the EC/Columbia area, the Camden line is closest with stations in Dorsey and Savage. The Penn line runs more often but you'd need to drive further to Odenton. I only used Odenton when I needed to get home early or left from home late.

The Md Dept of Transportation also runs buses to and from DC and/or the Silver Spring Metro station using Rt 29 if driving to the train station is a problem.
