sfh/townhouse in howard county with commutes to tyson's and gallaudet (Columbia: for sale, to buy)

Moving to Dc area, but absolutely want to live in MD..want to put kids in howard county schools..i think that best bet in terms of HoCo and commute is North Laurel (or somewhere in the southern tip of HoCo)...I wnat to buy new construction..any sugggestions on communities or builders? Thks.

howard county is pretty far from tysons, but if you do want to make the commuting sacrifice for the sake of your kids I would recommend north laurel/savge, bowling brook town home community is nice and there are a lot of new homes for sale there too. I live there and commute to dupont circle for work.

Howard Cty to Tysons is an insane commute. There are very good schools, as good as Howard County much closer to Tysons.

I have been commuting to Tysons from Columbia for past 1 year. Now, I commute to Alexandria from Columbia. Yeah, its insane. But, living in Columbia is really good. I have been living here for a long time now -- 6th year. Also, jobs are not really permanent these days. So, I decided on a good place to live first and then, worked on how to get to the place of work.

Somehow, I have managed to bargain a two days/week commute to work. In 21st century, and in America, if someone tells me part remote work is an impossibility for most of the "corporate" type work that does not require a lot of client interaction on a day-to-day basis is basically an idiot.

I can say live in Ellicott City, Columbia, North Laurel etc. and bargain a commute deal out later on. You won't regret it.
