Hi all, I'm a student and I'll move to Riviera Beach, MD with the Work And Travel Student Exchange program, I've chosen Riviera beach, and will stay there appx. 4 mothes from June to October. I'm just interested in about life and people in Riviera Beach and Neighborhood areas. Is it safe place to live in, what about people, housing and prices? And is there really any beach, as it's written as Riviera BEACH...
Thank u the ones who read and more more thanx who replied to this thread in advance... I need ur helpsss.

As to the beach part of your question, there are private community beaches for use by residents who belong to the community associations. In the early 20th century the area was used as a summer retreat for people who typically lived and worked in Baltimore and its name dates back at least that far. Now the water is typically so polluted that I doubt anyone would venture into it unless on a boat.

Hi Elshad. There are parts of Riviera Beach that are across the river from industrial areas, like Sparrows Point. Mostly, the main concern would be garbage washed into the water through storm drains, however, there are still some clean beaches in the area.

I grew up in Riviera Beach and lived there again with my family a few years ago. It's still the best part of Pasadena and the only place in Pasadena that I would consider living in to raise my children. Rent is crazy, anywhere from $1500-$2500 a month.

RB is the place to be. Its a very quiet neighborhood. Lots of diversity and gives the impression of being a private community. Riviera Beach is situated on a Penninsula. One side is the Rock Creek, opposite is Stoney Creek and the estuary connection the two is the Patapsco River. Across the river there is industry. Bethlehem Steel and others, including chemical plants are in that area and are not as productive today as they were years ago. The water is coming around and gettin healthier but most times you will see people in boats off shore. I love this place. I have been here most of my life. You can walk to just about anyplace you have to go,ie.,grocery, pharmacy, doctors, dentist, church, school, park, car repair center, happy hour, just to name a few.

So Elshad, did you come to Riviera Beach? And what has your experience been so far. If you are still here you have another month left to enjoy the area.
