I was raised on the North Shore of LI -- I know all about The Jones. We moved to Severna Park 9 years ago and live in a water-privileged community. I *love* it - you couldn't pay me to go back to the metro-NY area. Yes, Severna park is the "snotty" upper-middle-class town in this area but everything is relative -- being from LI I found people very down to earth and friendly -- nothing like LI/CT "snotty". I have absolutely wonderful neighbors and friends here, as do my young kids. The schools are very good, too. Anne Arundel county in general is very water-oriented - lots of sailing and waterskiing.

Ditto to what others have said about proximity to Annapolis/Baltimore/DC (I commute to DC - takes me 50 minutes). We are also about 18-20 minutes from BWI airport, which is great.

It's a very family-oriented area with lots to do, depending on what your tastes are.

We're relocating to New Hampshire next month and we will miss it here very much.

Best of luck to you - Jackie

I moved to Severna Park 4 years ago. The schools are the best, there is also a great deal of community activities and we also have a community center. There are definitely snotty people here, but there are also down to earth people. Move here, decide which one you would rather be and live your life! I only laugh at those that stick thier noses in the air, usually they are doing that to cover up how unhappy they really are...because money does not buy happiness.
