I would kill to have a school here with only an 8% non-white population.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one. And in what "exclusive" area do you reside that makes this area a "dump" by comparison?

Thanks for your message - this is helpful, although I am not quite sure which side of Pasadena we were looking on - so I'll ask about that. Neighborhood is Annsley by the Bay - gated community. Most feedback I have recieved also says SP and Arnold are more desirable communites and will offer better resale long-term.

That is a gated community in Pasadena. It is very close to the restaurant Windows on The Bay. Most of those homes start at 1 million dollars. It feeds into Fort Smallwood Elementary, Chesapeake Bay Middle, and Chesapeake High School. I teach at one of those schools.

As you teach at one of those schools, how would you rate them against those in Severna Park or Arnold? I really like a house in Pasadena, but was concerned with resale and the area for my children. It seems like some of the houses in that community have been on the market for awhile and several went under a recent auction, but I don't know if they were sold at that time.

Coming from out of state it's hard to determain the right location. I've looked all over Annapolis, SP, Arnold, Crownsville, Davidsonville and Edgewater. Pasadena was a new one to me so I was looking for any insights - positive or ones I need to consider. Thanks!

I just recently moved out of state, but lived in Severna Park. If your children will be in Severna Park schools, that is what matters most. They are top rate. There are some nice areas of Pasadena where you can still attend SP schools. Also, Pasadena is much less expensive. I think Pasadena gets a bad rap.

I just sold a 2 million dollar house (Hawaii) and am living in Old Town and finding it very nice. The diversity is really wonderful, everyone is very friendly, IMO.

I'm white but find the "all white" areas of SoCal annoying and shallow. (11 years OC) ...Unless you want to be a "real housewife" and doped up on Prozac, lol.

I kind of miss nature but that is what the gold line and the train will give us (you can park your cars) Old Town feels very *authentic*...great food.
