Default Living in Frederick and just can't afford it. Help!

We moved to Frederick last year from Philadelphia. We went from paying $700 a month in Philadelphia to $1170 here in Frederick for a 2 bedroom apartment. I just got a letter saying that the rent is going up to $1215. I figured that now is the time to start looking into getting things together and doing research for buying a house.

I saw some houses in Leesburg that were close to $100,000. Is there anywhere in MD that isn't an arm and a leg?! We won't be moving til next year and my son will be in 1st grade if that helps.

Thanks!

Try looking at Hagerstown to your west. It is about 25 miles from Frederick and cheaper.

Yea if you look west and north of Frederick (if you still want to stay in the area) you should be able to find cheaper housing. Hagerstown as westsideboy said is much cheaper and relatively close. Also Thurmont and Emmitsburg are about 15-25 minutes from Frederick and much cheaper.

Honestly Anywhere You Move In This Area Is Expensive Thats Why I'm Looking To Move. The Further Out You Move From The City I Will Say Is The Less Expensive. A Cousin Of Mine Is Actually Moving To Frederick In The Next Couple Of Months Into A Nice Apt And I Believe Her Rent Is Gonna Be About 970, Which Is Reasonable In Comparison To What She Was Paying 1200 For A Two Bedroom In Greenbelt. Baltimore Is Cheap, Not That I'm An Advocate For Moving Out There, Lol, But Just To Give You A Few Options, Besides Frederick And Alot Of The Cities Bordering Baltimore Such As Glen Burnie, Towson, Ellicot City, Just To Name A Few. Do A Search Online And See What You Come Up With. Good Luck!
