Default Glenn Dale in PG county

Can anyone comment on the Glenn Dale area of PG county? Looking in that area for a potential home. Are the neighborhoods established? Friendly communities?

Thank you.

Glenn Dale is nice. The area is not cheap. The lowest price for a home in the entire Glenn Dale area that is listed on the market is around $300k. I know a few people who live in the Glenn Dale area and they all like the area.

Thank you Iscalder. What seems desirable is the proximity to the New Carrollton station -- making the commute to downtown DC easier.

Do you know anything about the schools in the area?

This is how Pg county works. If you live in a desirable area. You will have desirable schools. I live in Upper Marlboro and the schools here are good schools.

I Beg To Differ As Far As Schools Are Concerned, You Can Live In A Desriable Area But You Can't Prevent Kids From Being Bussed In From Undesirable Neighborhoods. Imo, Its Not Even The Kids From Undesriable Areas Its The Administration Thats In Charge Of How These Schools Are Run. I Went To A Decent High School In A (at The Time Desirable Area) But It Was A Mixing Bowl Of Sorts As Far As Kids From All Over Being Bussed In, Some Catching The Metro From Dc, Lol...

Glenn Dale does not have metro. You have to own a car.

Thank you.
Having lived in the Bowie & Glen Dale area for over 25 years and still having family in that area, it is a very good area to live in, you have a mixture of some established neighborhoods and some new developments, however I do not think it is too much out of hand, and yes the prices are a little bit on the high side right now in some of the newer developed areas but not unreasonable, it is a fast-growing area and it has some decent shopping areas and some pretty good new restaurants, as far as the schools go, that depends on what part of Glen Dale you will be living in. DuVal High School has just recently undergone some new construction, Eleanor Roosevelt High School, which is located closer to Greenbelt, is an excellent High school, as far as elementary and middle schools go there is some new schools that have been built and some of the older ones that have been remodeled or in the process of being remodeled but that's just the buildings as far as the teachers and the administration goes, they still seem to be having some problems, not enough money for teachers, classrooms, or whatever which is always the case with any Board of Education, as far as safety in the schools go, it could be better, however I think they're working towards getting that done. All in all I would say that the Glen Dale area would be a good area to live in and raise your children.

My Only Response To This Is, Please Check Out Exactly What Schooling Zone Your Kids Would Into If You Have School Aged Children. Check This Out Before You Start Looking, It'll Be A Major Mistake To Make An Issue Out Of It Later. I Know Someone Who Went Through Something Quite Similar And Is Living To Regret It In A Major Way. The Kids Sufered Majorly And What Can You Do, Everybody Can't Afford To Send There Kids To Private Schools And Imo Pgcps Is Far From Subpar, They're Horrible. I'm Not Speaking On One Of Two Schools I'm Speaking On The Overall System, Yeah They Have Several Schools That Ar Eon Top Of Their Game But Overall They Fall Way To Short On The Todem Pole And Way To Many Kids Are Getting Lost In The System. They're Hiring Teachers With No Degrees Thats Says Alot Imo..
