Question Maryland Police Departments - Are all counties like this?

Thank you.

This link will take you to PG County Police Department's Six Districts.

I guess it is common for counties in Maryland to use one police department for the entire area?? Out West, at least in CA and AZ, the county's police departments act as Sheriff's and police areas that are unicorporated. So, cities within the county have their own police departments. Most are like this. It's very rare for large counties in CA to have one police department, each city will have their own and the Sheriff's department will police areas that are outside city jurisdictions. Police Officers either work for the county or a city within a county - not both.

That being said, your article proved what many have said on several posts regarding PG...areas inside or close to the beltway are high in crime and these areas affect the entire county's image. The article also pointed out that these specific crimes were related to a particular drug deal and was a recent surge.

Each city in Pg county have their own police department.
so for example Bowie have its own police department.
Capitol Heights,Upper Marlboro, etc. One of my neighbor works for Capitol Heights police department and on his police car it states Capitol heights department.

^^

Oh, well from what I saw and read on the County's website, it seemed like the County Police Department is the primary one, and is divided into districts, servicing the entire county. So despite this, cities have their own PD?? Maybe I just misunderstood...now I'm completely confused .

Crime
Are you the PG county crime police?
Why not post crimes in other county.

Whatever you post will point back to what everyone have been trying to say about PG county. Which is only the areas that are close to Dc have high crimes. The other areas have zero to very little crimes.

What you are doing is judging the entire county as a whole which is 100% wrong.

Why are you posting crime data for 2000? Why not post crime data for 2007-2008?

Well the crime have to go somewhere. What you are proving is what we all know already.

PG county government are working their butts off to ship the criminals into another county by increasing everything. Charles County is too cheap which is attracting those who are criminals.

I am so happy crimes are leaving PG county. Have you notice in Charles County waves/Communities are changing from family friendly to crime infested. Pg county was like that couple yrs ago until now.
Pg county government are pushing out the criminals and bringing in more family friendly people.

I am sure that you would not be happy if the area of the county within the beltway pushed the criminals into Bowie or Upper Marlboro so Charles County residents are not happy that crime is reaching them. It's really not right to say you are glad they are leaving the county if they are going to another county that borders yours. It would be nice if the laws and police activity were stronger everywhere and therefore we could try to lower the crime in all areas.
