Is busing popular in Maryland? Or, are families moving from PG schools to Charles County schools? Are there many gang-related shootings amongst minorities, or are there shootings from angry and depressed caucasians and asians? Or, is every teenager at this school shooting each other?
To the OP: I've seen (online) a lot of foreclosures in Waldorf and have a family member who used to live there. She liked it, especially her son's elementary school - don't know the name of it off-hand. Maybe you will be able to find a good deal on a home. There is also new construction, from what I can see on Builder's sites...maybe an option for you too.
We're looking at Maryland as a potential place to live, but for us, I think Waldorf may be too far of a commute to DC.

What is happening in Pg county is the County is attracting higher income families. Which is forcing lower income families to move out of Pg county to other counties that are cheaper. I have never heard of any shootings in Charles County schools.
I do think some caucasians might be a little upset that the county is more diverse now then before. Overall I do think the residents are very friendly from my experiences.
I did hear on the news that in couple more yrs Charles County school system will become majority Black.

What are you talking about? Lower income families are moving out of PG county and into Charles County and other counties that are cheaper then PG County.

In my community in Pg county we have excellent schools in my area.
Please know the facts before speaking.
Your statement is judging the entire county as a whole.
If you live in the middle/Higher income areas in Pg county. You will find excellent schools but if you live in the lower/poorer areas you will find crimes/poorer schools. Same for every county in America.

There is crime in PG County, but like lscalder said, its not everywhere. PG is a large county. Northern PG and southern PG are very different areas. My daughter goes to school in PG and has never had an issue and is actually getting a very good education (thank you Roosevelt HS). There are areas of PG that do have a little more affluence than others. Its not all ghetto and run down. Many nice communities have been built in the last few years and these houses aren't cheap. Maybe the nicer neighborhoods don't automatically make for a "safe" area, but it definitely is helping. Unfortunately, a lot of this development is on the outer fringes of PG and the older, more densely populated areas of PG near the district are not really benefitting at this time. When one thinks of crime in PG, the majority (not all by any means) is in the central part of PG and unfortunately, this effects how people view PG as a whole.
As for Waldorf, I don't know if its the undesirables of PG that are moving in or if its just an unavoidable side effect of a previously small town experiencing rapid growth.
