Soon to be South is on a distinguished road
The "south of 95" bit is a good rule of thumb, but like I said, I live in Abingdon, and have never encountered a crime issue. My area is very nice, as most of Abingdon is. I came from Belcamp, and yes, that area is a questionable one for me.

Perry Hall/White Marsh is getting really expensive and busy. Nice area though.

Default HarCo

I agree with most of the posts Edgewood stay away from. It has the most activity, but its' not really that bad. I moved here from PG County and DC, and East Orange, NJ and I can say HarCo is much safer than any of these areas. As far as schools and the best place I would recommend Bel Air but it is a little more pricey. Maryland schools are not as good as NJ schools, their programs are behind NJ (my son went to NJ schools and PG schools) Compared to Baltimore City and County most of HarCo is good living.

PS I live in edgewood and have never seen any crime and my neighbors don't bother me, but if you want better quality north of 95 is better.

Never said you were bad Rubytue! Just maybe a little upset you didnt know about the SUPERFUND site at Aberdeen, leaking mustard gas into the groundwater used to supply the wells. Of course if you have public water, then that's not a concern, because we all know and trust the government to provide its citizens with clean water, dont we? (sarcasm intended)
No, I stick to my original assessment...Joppa north of 95 good, south of 95 (joppatowne) bad. Also, the crime is in the police blotter is a mile long for neighboring areas, and seeing as how 95 is a direct artery from those area's to Joppatowne, I would avoid it. Confining my search to Forest Hill, Jarrettsville, North Belair 21015, Joppa (north of 95). Cecil has 4 superfunds so that is OUT! I'd rather have my health than my boat. Just my 2 cents.
Colleen

I have done alot of research, believe me! I have gone so far as to research the superfund sites located near Edgewood too! Obviously you havent done that. I understand that you are stuck there and feel as though you have to defend your area, but you are wrong...Edgewood has much more violent crime arrests second only to Baltimore in the state of MD@!!!!

Burns, this chick is obviously obssessed with superfunds. So what! move then! Edgewood does not have the outrageous crime that everybody so incredulously talks about! Harco overall has a very low crime rate, just look throughout the state in other counties! The only parts of edgewood that constantly come up are in a small area near 40. The area near 24 is very nice and quiet. On that note, Maryland in general sucks (yes even OC)! I encourage everyone to find a different state!

Just kidding... But harco is nice, its not doge city, in comparison to the area's in and around Baltimore and DC. then again, different strokes for different folks, come and drive around and see if you like it yourself.

And on that violent crime note, where are you getting your facts from? How can harco be second to Baltimore County when there is crazy ass PG County and Anne Arundel County? I am in law enforcement and I tell you that you are wrong... UCR reports as follows violent crimes Offenses Known to Law Enforcement/arrests

Anne Arundel County Police Department 2,705
Baltimore County Police Department 5,609
Harford 374
Prince George's County Police Department 8,232

I would consider Baltimore COunty, Harford's neighbor to the south, especially if you are planning on commuting to Baltimore (City). I would recommend Towson, Dundalk, Essex, and Sparrow's Point. I think Harford County has a much lower crime rate, but Baltimore County also has a great school system.

First of all, you goon, I do not live in Edgewood. I'm just sick of all the know-it-alls on here making up their own statistics. Take a look here...check out your precious Belair's crime stats versus Edgewood.

Belair is a great area. All towns and counties have their bad spots, but I have friends and family in Belair. I love the little downtown and there are restaurants galore. Our family that lives there has two children in HS, and one in middle school. I'm not sure what schools, but they love it there. If we weren't moving to Chicago, we would be moving there next!
