Default Looking to relocate to Bowie/Laurel Md this summer

i am a SBF looking to relocate this summer from NJ and would like to know how is the nitelife in that area?
Also I am looking to rent a room instead of an apt because i would like to commute back to NJ for about a year (hopefully less depending on how quick I can build up my clientele)
What is the going rate for renting rooms and is it safe?
Mitchellville Plaza is where i would like to work..is that a very busy/popular plaza?
How far from DC and Baltimore? would like to attend church in Baltimore so just wanted to know how far the commute is from Bowie/laurel area..By the way is Bowie right next door to Laurel? how far apart?
Leaving next Monday to come check it out but just wanted to get a heads up.
Thanx for any info
msB

Bowie and Laurel are both not known for NightLife.
Both areas are for raising families.
They are both close to DC,which is where the NightLife is.
I do like both areas. Laurel and Bowie are close to each other.

If I had to choose, I would go with Bowie.

I do not mind living in Bowie but the area is just too expensive.
Since you will be renting a room then you will be fine.

If you do live in Bowie you will be closer to your job then Laurel.
The closer you are to your job right now the better it is.
Gas is too expensive.

No big clubs to party at in Laurel and what is there is more neighborhood bars and juke boxes for entertainment. Please excuse this unPC phrase, but most of the bars are a little "red-necky." Not to say Laurel is like that (it is very diverse) its just that most of these bars have been around for decades and no new venues have opened up yet. Laurel and Bowie are probably about 20 minutes away from each other. Baltimore is about 20 minutes away from Laurel (non rush hour) and is not a bad ride.
Rooms can still run a little high (usually $500 and up).

Do a craigslist search. I saw a bunch of rooms/basements for rent recently. Just plug in either Laurel or Bowie (even Mitchellville) under the keyword search. Look under Maryland in the MD Suburbs of DC section. Its probably best to make some phone calls and set up appointments to see places than to come out without an agenda.

Once you find a shop to work. Please post the name of the company. I am searching for a new nail tech. I am into design.
