Default Subdivision with neighborhood feel in Montg county?

We are looking for a neighborhood that has a warm family feel. Something like Woodmoor or Fallsmead where there is a sense of community in the area. Where they have activities organized by the neighborhood association of sorts- for the holidays etc.

What do you think about College gardens? It seems to fit the bill and be in our proce range. But i'm not sure they have a true community or if it just looks that way because of the woodley gardens swim team and the elem school being set in the middle.
does anyone know someone who lives(ed) in the area and had good or bad experiences?

any other similar neighborhoods that are you know of in Montg county?
thanks in advance!

I'm not terribly familiar with Montgomery County, but you might want to look at the Kentlands development in Gaithersburg. The neighborhood has a diverse variety of housing, shopping and entertainment are also within walking distance. The neighborhood also has a very large amount of common spaces, so I'd imagine that would contribute greatly to the sense of community you might be looking for.

Try King Farm, Fallsgrove, Kentlands.

Default College Gardens is great!

I grew up in College Gardens and it is a great place. It really does have the sense of community you want, with block parties and an annual picnic for the community (which many people turn up for). The fields/pond/playground near the school are great places to gather for children to play, and of course the pools/tennis courts nearby are convenient. Unlike Kentlands or other housing subdivisions in Germantown and Gaithersburg, College Gardens is close to the metro and has a number of bus routes servicing it. I didn't even get my driving license until I was in college, as I never really needed to drive. It is a GREAT place.

Kentlands is a very cookie cutter and sterile area. If you want an area that has a neighborly feel, your best bet is Bethesda. Also, the schools in Bethesda are much better than those in Woodmoor, at least HS.
